Touch Phones Applications and What They Do

Today's cell phones are incredible devices. They not only help you stay in touch with friends and family but you can also surf the web, watch films, listen to music and even plan your route using some in-built GPS and map software. That sounds like a lot of functionality but with applications on a touch phone (or smart phone) you get even more! All you need to do is purchase the phone and then download the applications you want! Some of them are free and others you will need to pay for. However, most applications are not expensive.

There are so many apps out there that it would be impossible to cover them all. But we can give you a few examples. With the currency app for the Apple iPhone you can convert international currency at the tap of a finger which is great for those who love to travel or with the VS Painter LE app for the HTC touch you can edit photographs and images quickly and effortlessly.

Another app called AroundMe lets you find out what businesses and facilities are in the surrounding area - wherever you are. So, if you need a teller machine you can bring up all the banks nearby or if you need a stiff drink, you can find a good bar and even get directions to it. Meanwhile, the Yelp app goes one further and it doesn't just tell you where the bars and restaurants are, it shows you reviews for them from real people (other Yelp users) and it lets you add your own opinions too.

If you've ever been somewhere and heard a song you love but not been able to figure out what it was then you'll love Midomi. Just hold your Apple iPhone to the speaker and let it capture a segment of the tune. It will then figure out what song it is and tell you! You can even hum or sing the song retrospectively and it will try to work out what song you're singing.

If you're a book worm you'll also love Stanza which lets you read public domain classics such as The Sorrows of Young Werter and a wide range of poetry collections on your iPhone for free. There are over 20,000 books to choose from, all of which are free to download. Provided you have enough space to store them you've got a library full of classic literature at your finger tips.

Of course there are tons of apps we can download and it's hard to keep up with them. There is almost impossible to name them all but the beauty of this is everyday we can find a new way we can use our phones.
